Paul Watson , Non-Executive Director
Paul is a Registered Nurse with over 35 years’ experience in a variety of settings across acute, primary care and the independent sectors, having held a number of senior posts in these organisations.
Paul is a former staff member of Care Plus Group having held the post of Head of Sexual Health and Young Peoples Services. Paul is passionate about high quality clinical care and staff wellbeing. Born and bred in Cleethorpes, Paul has experience in working in Romania and South Africa.
Paul is a Board Member of the RCN representing nurses in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
Paul was the first nurse outside of London to win the RCN Richard Wells Award for outstanding innovation in Sexual Health Care, having set up services locally for people living with HIV .
Paul also practices as an Independent Celebrant, conducting non-religious person centred funerals.
Paul has one daughter and 2 grandchildren and lists his hobbies as mountain biking and supporting Grimsby Town FC and Liverpool Football Club.
Colin Childs , Chairman
Colin retired from the Royal Air Force in 2004 as a senior officer in the Engineer Branch. He was awarded the NATO Medal for leading teams on operations in relation to the Former Yugoslavia and the Iraq Medal for his leadership on operations in that theatre. Since then Colin has run a couple of local businesses and enjoyed a spell managing the hospital estates for the Northern Lincolnshire & Goole Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is currently managing director of a local business providing energy-efficiency assessment services.
As well as hearing employment disputes as a non-legal member for the Employment Tribunals Service, Colin is also a member of Lincolnshire County Council’s Independent Remuneration Panel. Colin joins Care Plus Group having just finished his term as Chair of Governors for his local school, having served 13 years as a parent governor at a number of schools throughout the UK.
A Fellow of the Institute of Leadership & Management, Member of the City and Guilds of London Institute and Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, Colin is also a Chartered Engineer with a Level 7 Diploma in Leadership and Management.
Cath Gregory, Non-Executive Director
A Certified Management Consultant of the Institute of Consulting since 2005, Cath has an MSc in Organisation Development & Consultancy, and an MBA.
Cath’s first career was in operations in the rail industry. Born in Sheffield, Cath moved with work to Grimsby in 1980 and subsequently became British Rail’s first female area manager, based in Lincoln. After other area manager roles she moved into HR in Birmingham where she was part of the team taking a train operating company through privatisation. Her last post was customer services and human resources director of a train operating company.
Since 1999, Cath has worked as a management consultant. First independently then with a business partner, she has concentrated on helping voluntary sector organisations and social enterprises develop their strategies and their organisations. During this time, she has also gained valuable experience as a local charity trustee.
Craig McKay, Non-Executive Director
Born in Glasgow in 1959 Craig studied at Wintringham School in Grimsby. As a ‘mature’ student he obtained a Degree in Business Law at Huddersfield Polytechnic and qualified as a Solicitor in October 1987. Craig is now a Partner in Wilkin Chapman, the largest law firm in the Newcastle/Leeds/Norwich triangle. Craig has been a volunteer Director of the local Enterprise Agency for over 10 years.
Kerry Campling, Director of Finance and Resources
Kerry is a professionally qualified Accountant with more than twenty years' experience in both industry and practice. Kerry began her career in local Chartered Accountant firms and qualified as a Certified Accountant in 1998. Prior to joining Care Plus Group, Kerry was Finance Director for a local engineering company.
Jane Miller , Chief Executive
Jane started her career in 1984 as a qualified social worker working across both Adult and Children’s and Families services. Jane has subsequently operated in a variety of roles, including working for 10 years for a national Children’s Charity focused on children’s safeguarding.
Jane joined Care Plus Group in February 2011 following an extensive career in local government which included her previous role with a neighbouring local authority as an Executive Director covering a broad range of services.
Jane has been part of Care Plus Group prior to us going live and following being Deputy Chief Executive/ Chief Operating Officer for 5 years Jane moved into the position of Chief Executive in February 2016.
Kim Newton, Head of Integrated Community Nursing Service
Kim studied in Ealing in West London and qualified as a nurse in 1983. Kim worked for 2 years on a medical respiratory ward and then took the opportunity to move to Australia. Kim lived in Australia for 4 years and worked in a variety of settings including a burns unit, a medical assessment unity and a cardiac surgery ward specialising in heart transplants. On return to the UK Kim worked in Oxford on a cardiac catheter unit and at a later date took up the role as a community nurse.
Kim realised very quickly that working in the community was the place for her. Kim worked for nearly 19 years for Oxford Health NHS Financial Trust including completing the specialist practitioner course in 2003. Following the completion of the course Kim worked as a team leader for a District Nursing Team based in Oxford City. In 2005 the opportunity came up to apply for new role of Clinical Development Lead for community Nursing, this role covered the clinical and operational management of a number of community nurse teams based in Oxford City.
It was working in this role that Kim realised that she really enjoyed operational management and took up an opportunity to apply for a secondment as an Operational Manager. This eventually led to a permanent role and due to service changes the role grew and took on other services in addition to district nursing teams. Kim worked in most areas of Oxfordshire and has managed a range of services including community nursing, community therapy services, intermediate care teams, end of life services and other specialist nurses.
Kim also managed countywide projects including setting up a Nurse Trainer service training formal care staff to deliver Delegated Health Care Tasks training to formal carers in groups. This new service has ensured that all formal care staff are trained to the same standard and are able to deliver a range of DHT’s directly to patients without the need for one to one training, this has resulted in freeing up clinical time for community nurses. Other projects have included setting up a DN Triage desk, leading on the introduction of a clinical electronic record system for community staff and a mobile working project. Kim was also the operational lead for the influenza immunisation plan for a number of years.
Neil Cartwright, Head of Central Services
Prior to joining North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus in 2009 Neil has worked in the private, academic and third sectors running his own successful business for almost ten years. Since June 2009 Neil has continued to work as a voluntary member of the board of directors of local Environmental Social Enterprise “Green Futures” and was the founding director and to this day continues as Chair. Neil has board level experience and has held directorships in various private, charitable and social enterprise organisations for over 15 years.
Joining North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plus in 2009, Neil was a contributing architect of the Integrated Business Plan that saw the inception of Care Plus Group in 2011. Neil was part of the team that managed our successful transfer from public to the social enterprise sector.
Passionate about lifelong education, Neil holds an Environmental Degree and a Post Graduate Diploma from Lincoln University and a NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health from the University of Hull and is a member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). Neil hlds a Certificate in Health and Emergency Planning through Loughborough University and 2018 saw the culmination of three years work with Neil successfully completing a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) (with Distinction) at the Lincoln University International Business School.
Neil has operational responsibility for Estates and Facilities, Health, Safety and Security compliance, Emergency Planning, the Collaborative Team, Organisational Communications and Marketing.
Andrew Quigley, Head of Integrated Care
Andy studied at Lincoln University and qualified as a Social Worker in 1999. Andy has held a range of Social Work posts in both Children’s and Adults Services. He has worked in Child Protection, Specialist Renal Social Work, Adult Community Teams, Senior Social Worker and Adult Safeguarding to name but a few. Prior to qualifying as a Social Worker Andy held a number of administrative posts within Humberside County Council – Sutton Place Young Persons Secure Unit, Adult Mental Health Services and Humberside County Council - Registration and Inspection Unit.
Having worked across Yorkshire and Humberside Andy came to North East Lincolnshire in 2005 as Adult Protection Co-ordinator with responsibility for the Adult Protection Process within North East Lincolnshire. Andy moved to manage Older People’s and Physical Disability Services as Community Service Manager and then into Learning Disability Services as Integrated Service Manager.
Andy was part of the Leadership Team during the transition from North East Lincolnshire Council to Care Trust Plus and for the transition from Care Trust Plus to Care Plus Group. Andy is Head of Integrated Care for Care Plus Group and has operational responsibility for all Adult Social Care Services including Adult Learning Disability Services including Intensive Support Team and Psychology, Adult Day Services, HOPE Street Specialist Services – Falls and COPD, Intermediate Care including Intermediate Care at Home and The Beacon, Hospital Discharge Team, Moving and Handling and Stroke Services, Linwood House Detox and Rehabilitation Unit in Barnsley, Fairways Residential Care Home, CQC Nominated Individual for Care Plus Group and the lead for External CQC Regulation.
Andy holds the Diploma in Social Work, has a Degree in Social Work, Certificate in Management and Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership.
Lisa Revell, Chief Nurse
Lisa studied at Hull University and qualified as a nurse in 1996. Lisa worked initially at Grimsby Hospital until 1999 when she moved to London. During her time in London Lisa worked in both The Royal Free and Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals. Lisa undertook several roles including Clinical Nurse Specialist and Departmental Manager where she led on the development of Primary Care Satellite Services for Haematological Disorders.
Lisa returned to Grimsby in 2004 and was appointed to the role of Team Leader within a Primary Health Care Team with responsibility for a variety of nursing disciplines. Lisa was subsequently appointed as Assistant Director of Clinical Services. In 2007 Lisa completed her degree in Health and Social also becoming part of the NHS Clinical Leaders Network. Lisa also holds a Diploma in Haematological Disorders and has completed her Masters in Leadership.
During the transition from Primary Care Trust to Care Trust Plus and the subsequent transition from Care Trust Plus to Care Plus Group Lisa held various senior roles within all organisations.
In 2012 Lisa took the Strategic Lead for the Palliative and End of Life Care agenda within North East Lincolnshire. Lisa has worked with multiple organisations to improve the quality of services for people with life limiting conditions. As well as Lisa’s responsibility for Palliative and End of Life Care Services she is also Care Plus Group’s Chief Nurse leading on strategic developments for nursing and a Director of Care Plus Group’s Charitable Trust.
Maria Tomkinson, Head of Human Resources & Organisational Development
Maria’s career started at the age of 15 when she was employed on a Youth Training Scheme with Grimsby Borough Council, after starting her YTS Maria was employed with Grimsby Borough Council in a trainee administrative role. Maria continued with her studies and subsequently began a career in Human Resources, continuing to gain a professional qualification in Human Resources. Maria worked through all roles and levels in several departments, all the time increasing her understanding, knowledge and experience.
In January 2008 Maria was promoted to Human Resources Team Manager with North East Lincolnshire Council having particular responsibility to provide operational HR support to the then Care Trust Plus. Following this Maria was also involved in the significant organisational transition from Care Trust Plus to Care Plus Group, a mammoth task which involved the creation and implementation of new Human Resources and Training Teams to support Care Plus Group moving forward.
As Head of Human Resources and Organisational Development Maria oversees all aspects of HR and Training, ensuring Care Plus Group are protected legally in their employment relations matters and that Care Plus Group have a well-trained workforce that is fit for purpose. Maria leads on a number of specific pieces of work related to organisational development and staffing, taking on the operational lead for Care Plus Groups Transport Service.
Sally Wood, Head of Commercial Development & Governance
After leaving school at 16 Sally worked for Nickerson’s Seeds, qualifying as Analyst-in-Charge of the seed laboratory. After 9 years Sally went on to have a family but continued to work part-time in a number of roles including sales, administration and teaching. During this period Sally completed a number of training courses including IT, Teaching and a formal Business Qualification. Sally became Secretary and Treasurer to one of the first Out of School Clubs to be established in Cleethorpes.
Sally returned to full-time employment in 2005 as Senior Administrator for North East Lincolnshire Council Community Support Team. Sally progressed within the team holding various positions such as Senior Scheduling Officer, Process and Systems Manager and also Manager of the Intermediate Care at Home Team. In 2007 Sally successfully completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Management led by Lincoln University. In 2010 Sally was appointed as Intermediate Tier Project Manager supporting the implementation and delivery of the Intermediate Tier Service Model.
As part of the Right2Request Process, Sally was heavily involved in the completion of the Integrated Business Plan which supported the transition and implementation of Care Plus Group as a Social Enterprise. Following on from Care Plus Groups successful launch, Sally became Head of Commercial Development for Care Plus Group supporting the organisation with new business opportunities, contract management and service re-design. Sally has operational responsibility for Governance, Business Unit, Employability Service, Quality and Performance and is the organisations Senior Information Risk Officer (SIRO).
